You've got skills!

You've got some mad skills! Yes, you! I remember when I was first layed off, after the shock and after getting my feet under me, I decided to do something. You can only send so many resumes and make so many phone calls and do so many networking meetings. Believe me, sometimes you just need to do some work.

I did some contract mechanical drafting (skills from my first job), I created a few web sites (skills from my years at Nortel), I pressure washed a few houses (mad skills), I did some landscaping design and installation, I painted the front of my mother in laws house, I repaired a section of sidewalk (oh my aching back), I designed and built a razor scooter stand (it's quite cool too).

I guess what I am saying is that you have skills and you can take on little projects or jobs while not hurting your regular responsibilities of finding a job. What skills do you have? Can you hang wallpaper? Do you have some mad computer skills? Can you teach?

Here's a plan...make a list of your MAD SKILLS...think about who could use them...go out and network your skills...put some money in your pocket!
